As recently as five years ago, the education technology landscape could have been compared to the wild west. Everywhere you looked, little communities were springing up, each meeting their own needs, but very few communicating and coordinating with each other. Technology standards were fractured, and learning ecosystems were modeled after walled gardens: closed off and maintained independently. Today, the ed tech picture has changed dramatically, in large part due to IMS Global’s Learning Tools Interoperability™ (LTI) standard, and the work being done by educators, institutions, and solution suppliers committed to integrating and implementing LTI conformance in their tools for their organizations. To further these efforts the Learning Tools & Content Community of Practice is developing resources that address RFP concerns, use-cases, user-friendly documentation, and advocacy for LTI2 adoption. This panel session will explore the state of the Learning Platform and Tools community today, the resources being committed to the efforts for broad conformance, and how robust LTI integration will define the future of effective education technologies. Please join panelists Shea Silverman and Jeff Bohrer along with Facilitator Hap Aziz for a deep dive into the LTI value proposition and the work of the Community of Practice.
