Minnesota has significant numbers of TEIs developed over a 12 year period. The most recently developed items have been created using QTI and APIP standards. Legacy items were developed in Flash and a vendor's proprietary system, and there are challenges converting these items to HTML so that they render and score in a manner that does not require they be field tested again or even rejected from the item bank. In some cases, workarounds are found, but questions then arise about the fidelity to standards and interoperability. This presentation will provide examples of some of these challenges and elicit input from participants on ways to ensure the interoperability of TEIs.
